Probate
Probate means the administration of a deceased person's assets through the court system. Under the Uniform Probate Code which has been adopted in Colorado, the administration of estates has been enormously simplified and contact with the court is usually minimal. Setting up complex trusts just to avoid probate is not worthwhile unless there are other reasons to set up trusts such as to save taxes, and to delegate control and management of assets during your lifetime as well as later.
